Things You Need to Know Before Installing a Solar System

You need a suitable roof

Your roof must be large and strong enough to support a full solar system. You want to make sure you check our warranty, as you don’t want the solar panels to outlast your roof! Ideally, your roof should face northward (or be oriented in an east/west direction) and be unobstructed from any shade to ensure that your solar panels receive maximum direct sunlight.
If your roof only receives a couple of hours of sunlight daily, you won’t be able to maximise the benefits of your solar panels. Alternatively, a ground-mounted solar system could be considered if your roof isn’t suitable

How Does Solar Power Save and Make You Money?
Installing a solar system, no doubt has huge cost-saving benefits. The most obvious benefit is that it will lower your power bills each month as it reduces the amount of electricity you need to buy from your electricity retailer.

Additionally, most New Zealand energy companies typically provide a buy-back rate for households that produce surplus energy through their solar panels.

Winter heating is a significant contributor to New Zealander’s energy costs, connecting your solar energy to your home’s heating system can significantly reduce your winter heating bills. At AJ’s Electrical, we also offer systems that include battery storage, which stores excess power, which can be utilized during hours of low daylight, meaning that the energy you capture and store is never wasted.

Not only can installing a solar system save you money on energy bills, but it can also increase the value of your home. Solar energy is becoming increasingly popular amongst modern consumers, with the demand for homes that have solar panels going through the roof! Because solar energy saves money in the long run, it is more enticing to potential buyers and is shown to increase the value of homes.
